A FEW MORE BLOCKS is the personal blog of artist / musician Gary Llama. Since 2011, it has been a meditative part of Garys life.

Flying Squirrels!

So, after last year’s game, I was excited to try and take Madison to another game. So we got tickets for the Squirrels opening night…

…right out of the gate (literally, the entrance) we ran into ‘Nutasha’, we were chasing Nutzy, but he went into a party room, and then right behind us, there she was…

…and we ran into her again in the store…

…this was a sold out night (10th year they’ve done that), so the stadium was packed, the lines for food and stuff were LONG…

…and it got super chilly. But overall a great game. 1-0 shutout for the Squirrels. Great night.

Avail / Library

Avail announced they’d be playing reunion shows, internet went nuts, So to try and meet demand, they announced more tickets for more dates. So knowing folks would line up, I went down to see folks, catch up. It was cool seeing so many old friends. Rarely get to do that cuz I go to bed earlier…

(that paper is about the RPS overcharging the city on expenditures, seemed ironic with the abandoned papers next to it)

… and I had Madison with me, across the block is the Library of Virginia. So LIBRARY TRIP!…

…there was an exhibit about immigrants in virginia, featuring stories and items from folks. It was really cool. Felt like a nice counterpunch to the fear mongering that the right usually brings in…

…is she making the same expression as the cat on her shirt? So cute….

…and then to the records section to look up my family…

…looks like fines paid by family members to sheriffs…

…by way of lawyers?….

…then I went to the chesterfield section, found this cool old pic of some boy scouts, love this stuff…

…and a super informational map of the county…

…pocohantas…

…first iron furnace in US. Cool!

Madison got out early and so we went over to the museum…

…apparently she had just been there, but wanted to see the mummy again…

…but then when we got to it, she was too scared to look at it…

…DAGGER!…

…since going w school, she has become quite the little museum explorer…

…walking around like a forty-year-old checking each exhibit against the map.

Fun time!

Busy day today…

…Urology…

…following a morning of therapy…

…where I learned that my favorite store had opened a new location. I went immediately, where I found this meditating llama…

…and this crazy owl…

…and this happy llama.

Sometimes with doctors and appointments, it can be easy to forget that the end goal is you feeling better, doing better. And thats not just health-wise, that is spiritually. A shop like this, with their wonderful collections does as much to help me feel like a grounded human being, as any doctor or drug ever could.

..It’s something about the energy of the place…

Sad plant lamps…

…just all over the place…

…so cute…

…so cute!
